If you are transiting, you are permitted to stay only for up to 4 days. UAE permits for employment are distributed for a maximum of 2 months, throughout which time you have to alter it into a Residence Visa or leave the nation.

Extension of a UAE Visa

You can extend nearly any UAE visa or entrance permit two times, each for 30 extra days and a cost of AED 600. You have to appeal for a visa extension prior to your present visa ends, and else you will be penalized for overstaying.
