Singapore Training Work Permit

Singapore permits overseas employees and students to commence practical training in a Singapore company via the Training Work Permit. The Training Work Permit is provided to semi-expert or untrained overseas workforces or students. It is also one of the many diverse kinds of work permits and passes which Singapore delivers.

You are qualified for a Training Work Permit if you are one of the resulting:

• An international student who is studying in an educational institute in Singapore but the training should be part of your academic course
• A semi-expert or untrained staff from an overseas company who will experience training in an associated company in Singapore

When your employer appeals for your Training Work Permit, they should have various documents to support the appeal. They contain:

• An official letter from your company, which includes:
  • Details about the determination and length of the training
  • A thorough training plan
  • Validates your job in their company during the training
  • Guarantees that they are accountable for sending you back to your home nation after your training
  • Evidence of the association between the two companies
• Student pass’s copy
• A formal letter from your educational institute which states:
  • Evidence the training is a part of your academic course
  • Required duration for the training
  • Your area of study
  • The length of your course
  • Details of registration in the course
  • Probable date of graduation
• A copy of your passport’s biodata sheet and any alterations
• Passport size photo meeting Singapore photo necessities
• Copies of your all educational certificates

Documents required to get your Training Work Permit issued:

• A finalized Training Work Permit appeal form
• A copy of your passport’s biodata sheet and any alterations
• Your Disembarkation or Embarkation card
• A finished security bond form

Your employer should apply for your Training Work Permit. The appeal procedure is categorized into three parts:

Appealing for The Training Work Permit: If you are an overseas staff, do not have to be present in Singapore for this part of the appeal procedure. Your company appeals for your Training Work Permit online.

• Your employer appeals via WP Online, MOM’s online application system
• They compensate for the appeal processing charge (S$35)
• The employer needs to check the appeal status the next day and continue if it is set at “Pending Documents.”
• After approved, they print the interim approval letter
• In ten days, your company should submit softcopies of all the needed documents

Prior you travel to Singapore, your employer should do the following:

• Purchase a security bond for you
• Get your medical insurance coverage at least S$15,000.

Appealing for the Work Permit to be Issued: Later you arrive in Singapore, your company should register your workplace and residence address through MOM’s Online Foreign Workers Address Service (OFWAS). After listing the address, they can appeal for your Permit to be provided. The procedure is as follows:

• Log in to WP Online
• Submit all the needed documents
• Compensate the charge to get your Work Permit delivered (S$35)
• Print the notification letter, which permits you to travel in and out of Singapore until you receive your Work Permit Card. Besides it also notifies you whether you require to register your fingerprints and photo or not

Registering Your Fingerprints and Picture: If your notice letter states that you need to register your photograph and fingerprints, you must do it in two weeks at EPSC. Do not forget to bring the following documents:

• Your valid passport
• Appointment letter
• Notification letter from MOM
• Any additional documents itemized in the notification and IPA letter

The Training Work Permit is legal for up to six months, and it cannot be renewed or extended. But, overseas staff from a foreign company can appeal for one more Training Work Permit when at least six months have covered since their last TWP expired.
